Konnichiwa! We're back safe and sound from our Japan trip and we want more! Ngetik sambil memandang syahdu ke arah cucian! HAHAHA ... If you ask me how was our trip, I would say crazy!! Crazily tired, crazily encok but yet crazily fun and memorable! This trip was our first long trip with Gide and traveling with a toddler will surely level up your traveling skills! Ahay! Suer, aku ga boong, Kakak! HOHOHO ...

We all know life is a series of choices and that including choosing your travel destination. Sesusah pilih mau makan indomie goreng atau mie sedap soto! Galau! And that happen to us! Kurang berfaedah apa alesannya coba?! HAHAHA .. but that's make us The Nananas! *wink*

As you can see from the title, Japan is the winner! Suka khilaf kita anaknya! So here am I, happily sharing #TheNananasJapanture with all of you :)

THE PREP
We bought the ticket 6 months earlier choosing Singapore Airlines as the air carrier considering the price, timing, and duration which means no transit at all. We also chose the red eye flight, demi kesejahteraan bersama ya and it was the right decision HOHOHO ... And yes Gide udah duduk di kursi sendiri since our last trip to Bali and Jakarta and now he's already 28 months. Kinda cute seeing him to get his own seat. Colek bapaknya yang nguarin duit lebih ;)

For the visa application, we applied it three weeks before our trip straight to Japan Embassy in Singapore. Haish! PHP abis!!!

"Everything is okay, just need this bank statement that show the details of it"
"Can I send it in soft copy form?"
"No, we want the hard copy"
"Umh, okay. But the rest is good?"
"Yes, just this one only"

Okelah sip! Saya balik lagi besokannya buat submit ulang. Demi kamu, Jepun! It took 4 working days for our visa to be done and it cost us SGD 38 per person.

Accommodation wise, we stayed in hotel trough out our trip and booked it via Agoda. We chose hotel over airbnb due to the practicality reason. We don't see the necessity to use the kitchen or washing machine, and another reason is good to be back to a nice and tidy room after a whole day exploring the city. Aha!! Enak bener liat seprei tuh rapih gitu! HOHOHO ...

Initially we wanted to book a mobile modem but at the end we decided to go offline again during this trip like any other previous trips and only counting on hotel WiFi since the mighty planner aka Abang has planned everything accordingly.  Reason number two from hubby is for us to enjoy the trip more rather than busy with our gadget since it's called holiday! So yeah, I did the saving part trough out the day and upload it when we got back to the hotel considering it was my me time :)

Air ticket, visa, hotels, internet connection, ... what else?! Oh! Transportation! Will share it to you in the itinerary part later. I think that's all that we settle before our trip. Almost forget, DisneySea ticket! We bought it online from here with the exact date method. No turning back! HAHAHA ;)

THE ONE LUGGAGE CHALLENGE
"Bawa berapa koper nih?!"
"Satu aja nih jadinya"
"Apa?! Satu koper doank?! Ga ganti baju selama di sana?"
"Ya kali! Ganti keleus!"
"Emang masuk semua?"
"Masuk! Pampers Gide satu pack juga udah masuk koq"
"Paaaaaa, si kakak masa cuma bawa satu koper doank buat bertigaaaaa"

That was one of my convos with my youngest sister and it happen like three times before we flew! I posted on my instagram caption that we conquered the one luggage challenge and I got some similar responses to it! Jangankan kalian, saya juga heran! Koper kita mendadak kayak kantong Doraemon, semua bisa masuk! Emejing! HAHAHA ..

Another galau moment! Mau bawa 2 koper kayak biasa kita traveling (medium size and cabin size) atau 1 (large size), ... dan yak we accept the one luggage challenge! Ahoy! HAHAHA ...

Yakin Gill 1 koper aja nih?! Yakin!! Nadanya sambil bergetar pas kemaren ngumpuling barang buat packing! HAHAHA... Mengingat sekarang ada tambahan peserta dan barang (baca: stroller), akhirnya kita memutuskan bawa 1 koper aja, sekali lagi demi alasan praktis. Biar ga ribet sama barang bawaan! Jadi total bawaan kita kemaren itu 1 large sized luggage, 1 pockit stroller (beserta tasnya), 2 backpack (1 isi barang Gide, 1 isi laen - laen yang ditinggal di hotel kalo pas lagi jalan - jalan), 1 small sized slingback longchamp (dilipet masukkin koper dan dikuarin pas jalan - jalan)
  • Gide's backpack: Tissue basah, tissue kering, pouch isi baju ganti, extra socks, 3 extra diapers, toiletries (minyak telon, aloevera gel, pawpaw, cologne), plastik, jaket, topi, cemilan, botol minum
  • Daddy's backpack: Documents, camera, charger, 1 set baju ganti masing - masing buat Daddy sama Mommy, payung, botol minum
  • Mommy's sling bag (pas jalan - jalan): Camera, payung, waterbottle, pouch P3K mami yang isinya tetesan soft lens, lipbalm, permen, plaster, sama gunting buat potong ramen atau daging! Penting!!!!! Dicatet buibuk!
  • The luggage: Mostly baju dan daily necessities termasuk ada pop mie! HAHAHA .. Terus bawa baju berapa banyak, Gill?! Uh, maunya satu lemari saya bawa biar ga usah mikir! HOHOHO ... Masing - masing kita bawa 2 jaket/sweater, 2 pairs of shoes yang satu pake satu masuk koper, 10 pairs of socks, 1 set baju tidur, 3 celana, 8 atasan. Udah! Buat Gide jumlah celana, atasan, dan baju tidur semua dilebihin jumlahnya, sama 1 pack of Pampers (40pcs) ..
Yup that's all and we all set! Aturannya balik kamar lansung mandi jadi baju tidur tetap terjaga kebersihannya terus kata bapake kalo sampe emang kurang ya udah beli aja! Azek!! Cuaca juga adem - adem semriwing terus kan jadi ga lepek kitanya. Eyeliner tetep on point! HAHAHA

We have no issue with SQ cuma pengalaman naek maskapai laen lumayan bikin agak gemes! Play safe aja kecuali ya emang mau di check-in strollernya ...

    THE ITINERARY
Our itinerary was made by the one and only Alpha in the house, Daddy!! We laff you, Daddy! Bravo!!! And knowing how selfless he is, he planned the itinerary so well which Gide can enjoy the trip as much as we do! We're so blessed to have you, Daddy!

Started our journey by flying from Changi International Airport to Tokyo (Narita International Airport) using SQ at midnight hour dan delayed due to bed weather! Waiting for about 40 minutes before we board on the plane and thank God everything went smooth .. Gide sukses tidur terus! Yeay!!

DAY 1 (TOKYO) - Touched down at Tokyo and redeemed our 1 trip Keisei & 3 days metro pass (total 3500 Yen) that we bought online before hand. Take Keisei Skyliner to Ueno Station and continue taking metro to Ryogoku station to check in at Dai-Ichi Ryogoku Hotel. Exploring the famous Shinjuku, Harajuku, and Shibuya trough out the day.

Jadi pas check in sekalian book shuttle buat hari apa dan mereka bakal reserved seat-nya buat kita. Jepang sendiri lumayan ketat buat urusan check in jadi biasanya kita selalu titip barang dulu di concierge terus tinggal jalan - jalan baru balik pas malem sekalian check in.

DAY 2 (TOKYO) -  Initially we wanted to see morning sumo practice at Arashio Beya tapi apa daya badan ngerentek efek dur terus dari pesawat terus langsung jalan - jalan, so we skipped this one and went straight to Ueno Zoo and exploring Akiharabara in the afternoon

DAY 3 (TOKYO) - Sensoji and Asakusa Shrine in the morning and continued to Lifehouse Tokyo at Roponggi for our Sunday service and yes they held the service in bilingual, English and Japanese. Interesting! After that we were heading to Tsukiji Fish Market but apparently they closed. It was written officially close because of public holiday on that day but the outer market was still open so we went to Tsujiki Outer Market and had street seafood galore! In the afternoon we explored Ginza and called it a day

DAY 4 (TOKYO) - DisneySea day!! We chose DisneySea over Disneyland simply because it's the one and only in the world. We took the 8 am shuttle and came back at 8.25pm from DisneySea. Btw, we were one DisneySea rain survival!!!! Oh yeah!!!!

DAY 5 (HAKONE) - Took the Romance Car from Shinjuku Station to Hakone Yumoto and spent our day exploring Hakone. We took Tozan railway to Gora Park and continued taking cable car from Gora to Sounzan before getting into the ropeway to stop at Owakudani and continued the ropeway journey to Ogendai before took the cruise at 5pm. We used the Hakone Free Pass for the transportations and tourist attractions rather than bought the ticket individually, semacam all in one. Too bad it was so foggy that day so we couldn't see Mount Fuji.

We spent the night at Manten No Hoshi, a ryokan where you could experience a traditional Japanese inn. They also have private onsen and we had our first onsen experience there. Gide?! Ikutan tapi cuma maen aer pancuran di pinggiran coz it was too hot! Saya sendiri kelar onsen gatel - gatel kayaknya karena kepanasan deh! Norak bener yak! HAHAHA ...

DAY 6 (KYOTO) - The adventure continues and now we're moving to Kyoto! We bought the 2 day subway pass that can be used for bus as well (2000 Yen) then straight to hotel taking Karasuma Line to Kokusaikaikan and stopped at Shijo. Our home for the next three days was Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto. Another good recommended hotel that located in the heart of the city.

We spent our day by visiting Daimaru and Nishiki Market which could be done by walking from our hotel. We continued to go to Teramachi and Shinkyogoku Shopping Arcade. Later on that day we went to Gion and spent our evening there. Unexpectedly, I saw the Yayoi Kusama poster of her art exhibtion and managed to find the pumpkin! It was already late and the museum was closed, tapi tetep foto sama si labu raksasa yang tersohor itu HOHOHO

DAY 7 (KYOTO) - Kyoto, known as the city of 10.000 shrines. Today's destinations was Arashiyama to visit Tenryuji Temple, Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, and Kameyama Koen

Continued that day by visiting Kyoto Railway Museum and definitely it was Gide's happy place! Seneng banget dia disana liat train segitu banyak!! Not just Gide, we as adults were impressed as well. Bagus tempatnya!! Suka!!! Impressive! A must visit place especially if you have a toddler with you :)

DAY 8 (KYOTO) - Today's tools were Keihan Kyoto 1 day pass combined with 1 day subway pass to visit Tofuku-Ji and Fushimi Inari Taisha. I shall call it temple hoping day coz the next part of the day we went to visit Shoren In, Chion In, and ended our day at Maruyama Koen Park ... and I couldn't agree more with them who is saying that you can feel the zen feeling and atmosphere surrounds you when you visit those temples.

Fyi, being the number one tourist's destination, Fushimi Inari Taisha were very crowed and yes of course everybody want to take picture at their famous orange pillars including us. Sedikit tips dari saya, jangan napsu! HAHAHA .. Nah! Di situ baru lah poto - poto cakep!!

DAY 9 (OSAKA) - Our last stop, Osaka! Initially we wanted to use JR Special Rapid Service to Osaka but then we found out that we could use the Hankyu Line to go there so we went for option number two. Osaka ini drama banget deh! Ntar saya ceritain yaaaaa ...

From Umeda Subway Station we went straight to our hotel, Kinki Hotel to keep our luggage there before continuing to explore the city. This hotel is the smallest hotel among the other two but we decided to book this one considering the location and it's only one night after all. Overall hotelnya oke cuma ukuran ranjangnya sedikit lebih kecil. They don't have queen size bed, only double. Ya sok lah hajar bleh!!

Our first destination was Osaka Castle. From there we continued to Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade, Ebisubashi Bridge, Dotomburi Canal, and Hozenji Yokocho Alley. We also managed to go to Whity Umeda Underground Shopping Center and ended our day by taking ferris wheel at Hep Five ... A big giant red ferrish wheel, people!

DAY 10 (OSAKA) - Spend our morning at Tenjimbashishuji Shopping Arcade then to Kids Plaza to play at the playground but too bad it was raining so Gide didn't have opportunity to play there. This time we had our Sunday service at Lifehouse Osaka. Continued our day in the rainy day going to Osaka Aquarium and spent the rest of the day there before heading to Kansai International Airport using Kansai Airport Rapid Service and taking our flight back home to Singapore at 23:35

That's the ideal plan but life can be full of surprises!

Apparently the week we were in Japan was so called a typhoon week which means there is going to be typhoon and that's explain why it was raining trough out the week. Iya kita di sana kalo ga gerimis mengundang, mendung kelabu, sama ujan paket angin pilihannya ... And as you can guess, the typhoon decided to hit the town on the day we supposed to be back to Singapore.

We got an email telling that our flight had been re-timed to 8 am the next morning so we had to spend another night in Osaka. We were at the hotel to about taking our luggage and heading to airport when we received the news. We're thinking to stay another night in the hotel but then we checked the schedule and it's impossible to reach airport by 6 to cactch our flight back.

We took a moment to pray to clear our mind and I suggested to Abang for us to go to the aiport as we planned dan cari hotel deket sana, or worse scenario ya ngemper lah di airport tapi seenggaknya if something happen or anything kita udah di airport. Jadi kita back to plan A dan ke train station. You know what, karena typhoon itu JR line stop operating all their trains yang mana harusnya kita naek itu dan mereka ga tau kapan operasi lagi tergantung cuaca. Oh my!!!

So bus it was! It's called Osaka Airport Limousine. Iya namanya limousine tapi kenyataannya bis ;)

We were struggling finding our way to the bus station but finally managed to reach there. Perjuangan banget! Pegang payung sambil dorong stroller, sambil nahan angin! Thank God the bus was still operating as per normal cuma emang berasa anginnya kenceng banget. Duduk dalem bis itu berasa loh bisnya kayak ga terlalu stabil tapi I have faith di pak supirnya dan kita selamat sampe di airport! High five, Rai!!

Airport kayak apa?! Kayak lagi lebaran! Sepi bok! Bukan kayak airport. We went to SQ counter to confirm and settle everything and they gave us free hotel accomodation for that night and a bus to deliver and pick us up. The hotel was very nice. Totally forgot the name but I think it was a four or five stars hotel. Yeay! Take it a another blessings! Bisa dibilang salah satu benefit of taking non-budget airlines juga kali ya buat long trip

DAY 11 (OSAKA/SINGAPORE) - In this case, the ++ sign is for the additional night we had in Osaka! The bus picked us up at 5.30 am and went straight to the airport. Settled the check in stuff and we're so ready to go back home. Finally!! Hello again, sunny Singapore! Being missing your char kway teow a bit! ;)

Since it's a morning flight dan anaknya udah tidur pules semalemnya, alhasil perjalan pulang dari Osaka ke Singapur sukses sibuk si bocah! Dari nonton film, sibuk pencet - pencet remote, dijadiin telpon lah, terus belom lagi minta orang juice sama pramugarinya. Banyak gaya!!! "Orange juice, please" ... Nyanyi - nyanyi pokoknya sibuk bener deh but overall he's been doing great trought out this journey. Well done, Gide!!! Proud of you!

    THE AFTERMATH
Kapok ga Gill?! Engga!!! Nagih! Seru walopun encok!! Gerimis, ujan, typhoon kita anggep jadi bumbu buat perjalanan kita. Ya siapa juga yang mau cuaca jelek, pas booking ticket juga niatnya mau ngadem sambil foto - foto kece cuma ya dibawa asik aja! Tsah!!

Nanti saya share - share lagi ya cerita - cerita seru lama kita jalan - jalan. Perjuangan saya buat foto sama Daisy Duck, belom lagi sok ide-nya saya yang bikin saya pisah kereta sama Abang pas mau ke Osaka ... Abang juga ga kalah sok ide nyalain heater bikin kita kegerahan HAHAHA .. Gide juga banyak cerita seru! "Gide mau foto sama Goofy atau Mickey?" Dijawab sama anaknya, "Zulkifli!!" Ya kali, De!! KZL! Ampun dije nih bocah!!!

So yeah that's basically the gist fromo #TheNananasJapanture ... Unforgettable and surely not going to be the last one! Thank you for reading our story and feel free to comment, kasih masukan, nanya ... apa mau kasih trip gratis! Ga nolak!!! HAHAHA ...

'Till the next story on #TheNananasJapanture :)
